1.3.3 | Suspected Fall Notification

Fall-Detection.svg

General Information

  • Within the alea software, notifications regarding abrupt movement or position changes of a care recipient can optionally be enabled or disabled.

  • If corresponding events are detected, a notification is displayed in the alea App. Such events may indicate changes in the care recipient's situation without assessing the underlying cause.

Information Regarding the “Suspected Fall” Event

Within the context of these Instructions for Use, “Suspected Fall” refers to a software-generated notification indicating an unusual or abrupt movement or position change of a care recipient.

  • Such a notification may indicate a change in the care recipient's situation and may, under certain circumstances, be associated with a possible fall event.

  • The term exclusively describes a notification of a detected movement event.

  • No confirmation of an actual fall is provided.

Operating Principle

  • Notifications are based on the automated evaluation of sensor data from which movement and position patterns of the care recipient are derived.

  • If abrupt movement or position changes are detected that deviate from typical patterns (e.g., sudden position changes), an event may be generated and displayed as a notification in the alea App.

Important Information

  • This function serves as a supportive information and notification feature within the alea software.

  • It is not intended for the reliable detection of falls or emergency situations and must not be used as the sole basis for safety-critical decisions.

  • Care activities, observations, established care routines, and safety measures must continue to be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the respective care facility.

Limitations

  • Event detection may be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate.

  • Events may be incorrectly detected or missed due to factors including the way the incontinence product is worn, movements in bed, wireless or network interruptions, environmental conditions, building characteristics, or other external influences.

Enabling / Disabling Notifications

  • Notifications can be enabled or disabled individually for each care recipient within the alea software (see Section 2.2.4).
