1.3.4 | Area Exit Notification

Safe-Area.svg

General Information

  • Within the alea software, area-based notifications can optionally be provided.

  • A notification is triggered when a previously defined area (e.g., a room) is left and the system registers a corresponding area event.

Description

  • The alea system can optionally provide area-based notifications.

  • A notification is triggered when a previously defined area (e.g., a room) is left and the system registers a corresponding area event.

  • This function is not part of the medical intended purpose and is not intended for emergency detection.

  • It must not be used as the sole basis for safety-critical decisions.

  • Care routines and safety measures must continue to be followed in accordance with the requirements of the respective care facility.

Definition of an “Area”

  • An “area” is an operational area configured within the alea Cockpit and technically defined through the system configuration (e.g., placement of system components and wireless coverage).

  • The system does not perform location tracking in the sense of position determination (e.g., GPS or geolocation coordinates).

  • The exact location of a person outside the defined area is not displayed.

Configuration in the alea Cockpit

  • Area events can be enabled or disabled individually for each care recipient.

  • Definition and assignment of areas are performed by authorized users within the alea Cockpit.

Limitations / Typical Interference Conditions

The function depends on local wireless coverage, network availability, and correct system configuration.

Area events may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurately registered, for example due to:

  • Unfavorable building conditions (walls, ceilings, multiple floors)

  • Missing or unstable wireless or internet connectivity

  • Insufficient coverage in common areas

  • Power outages or system components that are not operational

Distinction from Technical Failures

  • In certain situations, an area event may appear similar to a connection interruption.

  • Therefore, always check the device status (e.g., status indicators displayed in the App or Cockpit) when notifications or unusual conditions occur and follow the applicable troubleshooting instructions.
